me and my friend Erin have decided to do a fitness plan (partly to loose some of the weight I've gained being on meds and american trip), but also because physical and mental health can often go together hand in hand.. what we were planning to do was some form of excersise 3 times a week (in addition to our normal lives).. so I think I'm gonna try and do gym, or maybe squash.. anyway I though it might be good to post up our progress here so we can support each other in doing this.. so who's interested??..

Hi all - I'm Erin, the crazy American who was feeding Trev bagels and Taco Bell and pancakes ... so pretty much all the yummy foods that are a no-no. But I think Trev and I are doing something great for mental health. Personally, my life is going to get a little crazy. I already work a full time job and now I'm going to tack on a part time job to bring in some extra income. That can get a little hectic. I stress out way too easily, so I think exercising will help my mental health. Trev, this is such a great idea! I'm glad we're going to do this!!!
I already enjoy belly dancing (a passion of mine for about two and a half years now), so that will be one form of exercise for one of the nights a week, but I will also hit up the gym in my apartment complex and now that it's getting nice, a walk with my iPod will be something positive. I remember a couple of years ago, I was really good at walking around my favorite Minneapolis lake, three times a week. Once around the lake is 2 and a half miles, so I should definately get back into that again!
Doing something different every night is a good idea - what other ideas do people have as a form of exercise?

Yup, I will TRY and excercise 3 times weekly, just need to find the energy...and to do that one must try to remain healthy...ok, here goes...
Tomorrow I am going on a trip with my local mh group around Bolton Abbey and Skipton, so tomorrow I will be doing more excercise than normal...Im not too sure about the gym, Im a little paranoid, however I can make the effort to walk my cousins son to school on a morning with her, its a 30 min trek, up hill, though we do walk through the valley gardens which are really pretty, so I can just about manage that...good luck everyone else xxx

Ha! Let us know how it goes. I think my first form of exercise is cleaning the apartment. Considering how much I need to do, that'll be good form of exercise right there. I'll just pop my iPod on and dance with the vacuum cleaner! ;D

LoL The cleaning thing didn't happen last night because the place was picked up by the time I got home - my roommate had the day off yesterday and she took care of it.
I did put my iPod on last night before bed, though, and belly danced around ... that's better than nothing!

I went for a short run today.. but it really highlighted how unfit I am.. I got dizzy really quickly.. so had to walk some of it!! but it was good to do something.
I also think drinking lots of water and trying to cut down sugar is a good idea.. I drank diet coke.. and I've just had a pint of water instead of eating something snacky!

Awesome Trev! I'm so proud of you. Be careful with running. I hate it, but I give you total props for doing it. I think it's hard. I have yet to start exercising. It's like I almost need someone to tell me what to do and when! I think about it way more than I actually take the action I had six small pancakes for breakfast. I feel so guilty. But I also had a small glass of orange juice and a small glass of tomato juice, so that part made me feel a bit better. I'm going to a surprise party, but I'll have to cut down on the snacking and beer intake. Ooy. It's going to be so hard.

Wow this is a great plan! I'll get on board with it. I've done a ton of walking the last few weeks, and I think I should try to keep that up.
So I'll go for a walk today, and try to walk doing my errands at work. The weather is getting good, so that could be a great way to get fresh air too.

Vix, you could always pretend to walk the kids to school even there are no kids?? I'm making Trev to tell me what to do - he's going to have complete control on everything I eat and what exercises I do.. JK I'm actually getting together with one of my good friends in two hours to go walk around one of the Minneapolis lakes. I'm excited. I had two eggs and two pieces of toast for breakfast. And I'm going to get a couple of healthy, but small things to eat before I go on the walk and bring a bottle of water. I'm feeling good already! xx

Oh yah - I feel a tad bit guilty, but somewhere, I still feel good. Yesterday, my friend and I walked around Lake Calhoun. It's 3.10 miles. I feel good about that part. The bad part I feel guilty about is that there is an Applebee's restaurant right next to where we parked. We were wanting something to drink after the long walk ... we were hungry, so we shared an appetizer (which I'm sure has a zillion calories if anything) and I had two margaritas (about another zillion calories) ... ooy!
Today, I haven't exercised, but I had a decent breakfast and a decent lunch. My roomy just made a smoothie, so I'm drinking that and a pint of water. Today, I don't have much going on since it's a holiday, in which, are those days to snack like crazy and just lounge around. I'm hungry, but very proud to say no to the snacking.
Trev, walking in the rain is great dedication and I know you love rain, so hey! Why not?! And if and when I can come visit, you'll have to show me some of these places!

what I found out today.. from a friend, was that you should eat a Big breakfast, a medium lunch, and a small dinner.. and not eat anything 4 hours before going to bed? anyone else have this advice.. I think Diets go hand in hand with fitness so I thought I'd just start the ball rolling..
