‘Being involved with S.U.R.P. has been a great experience. It’s all about being in a team and working together towards common goals. It’s helped me to improve my self esteem, develop my confidence, make new friends and learn some new skills which have helped me to get a paid job.’

Being in SURP I feel really great to be part of SURP. I have had mental health services in my life since the age of 11 years. I have always been very involved and interested in empowerment. I have also enjoyed being part of the Service User Monitoring Team and feel it has given me a lot of confidence. It is great to work alongside Abina as assistant Lead in SURP, and to see so many Service Users working alongside each other. Michele Day.

My life was very confused and I was on a drug and alcohol programme which was at the Cranston Project in Banbury, I was doing well and came across a newsletter which asked for people who would be interested in a monitoring group for service users. I already attend the MIND centre in Bicester called the Causeway so I phoned the number and came along to the meeting which I found very friendly and it all started from there. Since then I have become a part of the service user reference panel and we are in the middle of organising a conference so that’s how I became involved in SURP which you could too. Lorraine
