I was sent this link from About.com which is quite interesting, as I tend to think of stress in just a few areas rather than broadening into 16! Clicking on the Home link was very relevant to me, as I know that I am very stressed by my chaotic home circumstances. We are a bit crowded too, which makes it difficult to improve things. Maybe I should look at another of the 16 features that promote happiness instead! This is a snip of what the link says: stress.about.com/od/managetimeorganize/a/homerelaxation.htmThe Importance of Home Relaxation As several studies and a recent poll on this site have indicated, people experience plenty of stress from jobs, finances and other areas of our lives. When we come home, we want to feel like we’re entering a refuge, safe from the demands of life. But does your home provide a safe harbor from stress, or is it causing you additional stress that you might not be aware of? If you have a cluttered, poorly decorated or somewhat disorganized living space, home relaxation can be virtually impossible! Fortunately, this article has some information that can really help. With a little work, your home could be another stress management tool at your disposal.

I wrote a song about stress.. it's called Slow Down Slow DownSlow Down, you do too much You'll get there and it'll be ok So don't you worry about all the things you do, Don't worry 'cos I know that you'll get through Don't worry about all the things you do, Calm down, it's not so bad It'll all resolve Calm down, it's not so bad It's out of your control, Slow Down 'Cos you'll Get there in the end -- you can hear it on the main site too www.TrevWilliams.co.uk

Stress is a major factor in 'everyday life' - and I am constantly learning that it is so important to regularly take stock of what those stressors are. Sometimes, it is just the pace of life, and work, and maintaining a manageable balance. Other times, in addition to this, life events such as bereavement, relationship breakdown, house move, or loss, can add up and catch you up faster than you might expect! Despite having some wide knowledge on 'how to prevent stress', or how to 'life manage' I realise it is still so easy to not listen to your own body when it is telling you to 'SLOW DOWN'! I would encourage anybody who has experienced stress, or not! to try and wherever possible, take time out to reflect, and where possible, take more care of 'minds and bodies'. They are precious.

I thought I'd give this a well deserved bump, one of my friends has had a "total stress break down already last week and couldnt move from my bed for three days" which is how he described it. Also a lot of the teachers I come into contact with are very stressed out as it's the start of term and everything is soo hectic.. I think it's good to just be aware of our stress levels before they get too much

It’s a timely thing to bump. Fall tends to be a stressful season with activities starting up again that were on summer breaks, and getting ready for winter and holidays. I was just reading something the other day about ways to help relieve stress, and one thing was to make your bed.
It sounds silly, but thinking about myself, it’s true. When my bed is a mess it doesn’t feel like much of a refuge. It usually only takes a few minutes to do, and when you are at work or in a chaotic situation, you can remember that you have a nice bed to go home to. There’s something very nice about the thought of climbing into bed that is cleaned off and ready to just be slept in.

Hey Erica, that's a very interesting point indeed.. not only is my bed at home a mess (I have rectified that now having read your post!) but also when you don't know where you are going to sleep that night it can be very stressfull / traumatic as well! Sounds strange but it's happend to me more than once where I've been let down etc, and not known where I'm sleeping that night, and then I stay awake thinking about it (even when I find somewhere)... I guess this might be a personality trait of mine, some people seem to be able to goto partys, get drunk, pass out anywhere.. etc.. but I can't, I need to know where I'm going!!
