"You do not have to be mentally ill to experience mental illness"
This part of the board is ment for disgussing anything to do with mental health / depression, bi-polar, OCD, panic etc. the idea is to give support and information from people who have experienced similar situations.. but in the meantime there's is lots of information and support on the MIND website
www.mind.org.uk/
Also
www.time-to-change.org.uk/
Note: all information on this board is from individuals and shouldn't be regarded as medical.. but I hope it's useful
Just an important note about confidentiality.
although I do feel it is very important to discuss mental health from personal experience, please be aware that the board is open access and therefore can be viewed by anyone. Although I am pretty open about my experiences, if you are unsure please use a name that isn't your real/full name when you register, or use the guest login.. there haven't been any problems in relation to this but I think it is important to mention as I cannot moderate which post are 'too' personal as they all are in some way. So just bear that in mind
the board is set up so only logged in users can start topics, although anyone can reply as a guest. (this is to cut down on SPAM)
I realise there might be people who don't want to create an account but would like to start a topic, and I'd suggest just sending me an Email and I'll start it if that's the case.
Another resent point is that this is for discussing mental health and not individual people, and therefore you can safely talk about issues here without worrying your friends. There are quite a lot of supportive people on this board, and help and advise, and sharing information is often a lot better than telling people who are too close to the situation.
UPDATE 10.10.10 :
I haven't updated this part of the board for a while, I hope it is still useful. Please do update with news / links of goings on in the mental health world or indeed add your own views / comments / experiences
