Last night's episode focused on Stacey Slater, who is having mental health problems. It was brilliantly acted by Lacey Turner. The story has been building up for a couple of years, and it was Danielle's sudden death which has triggered Stacey's current problems. The episode can be watched online this week: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00kflwx/EastEnders_15_05_2009/

Bipolar experts' EastEnders help news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/8072254.stm Neil Tinning explains how the EastEnders storyline is a "huge deal" for sufferers and for destigmatising the illness (the second video) First video is just about research - not very interesting

Stacey now is developing symptoms of Paranoia, and similarities to Schizophrenia as well as diagnosed Bi-polar. Be sure to watch Eastenders in the run up to world mental health day.

Eastenders was a trending topic on twitter just now I'm so pleased so many people watched this. Lacey Turner in my opinion should win an oscar for it. Gillian Wright who plays Stacey's mum also played an amazing part. If you still haven't caught up Eatenders is repeated tonight at 10pm, and the whole week in sunday's omnibus.. as well of course as on the i-player here : bit.ly/4ahKwp

Well, although I don't watch Eastenders I did happen to see Stacey losing it. I recall her saying something about 'just having some fun...' That word 'fun' gets me - The Rule Of Fun I sometimes call it. There is much I should probably say - I do have concern that people in society are far too much in denial about what messes a lot of people up. Hmm there are many articles I could refer people to, the one that comes to mind right now - and I'm not sure I've even managed to read it all myself, it was some time ago I came across it www.city-journal.org/html/10_3_oh_to_be.htmlMy main point is, you could surely make a fairly clear distinction of who are the victims and who are the perpertrators (I can't spell that, and for some reason micro word's spell check isn't available to me). But, I'd concede, as would Dalrymple (this is one of his main points) that the perpotrators are also, to some extent, victims but as he says somewhere in this essay www.newstatesman.com/199908160020.htmIt is right that some people should feel bad (at least some of the time) or how else are they to learn? anyway, must rush.
