I am facilitating the group discussing CPA plans in the conference in June. I realize my remit is to'facilitate' rather than to impart information on the topic, but I really haven't got a clue how to plan and execute this workshop. Surely some knowledge of the subject is necessary and mine is minimal to say the least.
In my experience they never make any promises other than to meet up with me once a month (with my CPN that is). Any requests I make go straight into the unmet needs box. That way they are covered legally and always do what they say they are going to do, and almost never do what I want them to do. Waste of time and paper if you ask me. Any ideas/comments anyone? God alone knows how I 'm going to spin this out for 45 minutes

Just to wish you luck doing the workshop, barbarap.
You could ask people to 1) talk about their own knowledge of how care plans work in reality 2) elaborate on their dreams of what care plans might achieve if everything worked to the benefit of the person named in the plan 3) discuss what changes might be made which realistically could bring about a few of the dreams, or prevent some of the worst problems of the current position
I guess if you have had a care plan then you are as expert as anyone - those people who have experience with lots are the people writing them.
Does the word 'approach' in the subject mean that you can discuss whether it would be better to have a completely different approach? Like less paperwork and more action (is that an approach?). I don't mean to be confusing.
Good luck, I am sure you will do fine. Tessa
