i'm not an expert on medication by any means, but i'll share my experience and hope you might find it useful and be able to add to it. Some people never get severe enough to need medication, but often it can help in getting back on your feet. The two drugs I'm familiar with are Olanzipine, an anti psycotic and Sertraline an anti depresant..
while an anti psycotic will slow down your brain, making it easier to relax and sleep, also it will damped tendencies towards paranoia, an anti depressant will slightly raise your mood, and try and stabalise the extreme ups and downs experienced by many people with mental health problems.
there can be side effects and doctors often change medications to try and find the best one for the individual. it is very important to seek advice from your GP about medication, and not to come off medication too soon in case of relapse.. Trev

just a bump for this as a friend is doing some research into it. any more input into different medications would be good
